Content Management Sites

A content management system (CMS) lets you update your own website with little or no technical knowledge. With a CMS you’ll update your site more frequently, and that’s a good thing.

We have worked with many different content management systems over the years, and we have some favorites. With our preferred CMS tools, you don’t need to pay license fees or install any software on your computer. You can make changes to your site by simply using your browser. We also lean toward non-proprietary systems for most clients, so you won’t be locked in. At the moment, our favorite open-source CMS platforms are WordPress and Drupal.

About WordPress

WordPress is a powerful semantic publishing platform, and it comes with a great set of features designed to make your experience as a publisher on the Internet as easy, pleasant and appealing as possible. We are proud to offer you a freely distributed, standards-compliant, fast, light and free content management system, with sensible default settings and features, and an extremely customizable core.  WordPress is used by over 14.7% of Alexa Internet’s “top 1 million” websites and as of August 2011 manages 22% of all new websites. WordPress is currently the most popular CMS in use on the Internet.

About Drupal

Drupal is open source software maintained and developed by a community of 630,000+ users and developers. It’s distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (or “GPL”), which means anyone is free to download it and share it with others. This open development model means that people are constantly working to make sure Drupal is a cutting-edge platform that supports the latest technologies that the Web has to offer. The Drupal project’s principles encourage modularity, standards, collaboration, ease-of-use, and more.
